Somatic Inquiry and Drum Circle in Nature

A journey of embodiment, release, connection, and rhythm.

You’re welcome to come and join us as we step away from the demands of everyday life and into the healing embrace of nature. Join us for a unique experience that combines the transformative practices of Somatic Enquiry with the ancient medicine of the drum, creating space to reconnect with your body, your nervous system, and the natural world around you.

This is a welcoming gathering for both men and women, whether you are completely new to somatic practices and drumming or have practised either before – you’re welcome.

What is Somatic Inquiry?

Our bodies hold the stories of our lives. Stress, trauma, overwhelm, and the pressures of modern living can become stored in our nervous system, often leaving us feeling disconnected from ourselves or others, tired, emotional, or struggling to cope with the ebb and flow of normal life.

Somatic Inquiry offers an opportunity to gently explore what the body is holding through guided practices that cultivate awareness, curiosity, and compassion. Working with the body’s innate wisdom, we create conditions that support regulation, restoration, and release – we invite in safety.

Drawing on current understanding of the nervous system, our sessions work with the vagus nerve and the body’s natural ability to move between states of activation and calm. Through breath, movement, grounding, mindful awareness, and gentle enquiry, we invite the body to release held tension and stagnant energy, helping us return to a place of balance and presence.

There is nothing to fix and nothing to force. You are invited to simply meet yourself as you are.

The Medicine of the Drum

Afterwards, with a deeper connection to self, we gather together in a circle and community connection through rhythm.

Drumming is one of humanity’s oldest forms of communication and community. Across cultures and throughout history, the drum has been used to celebrate, heal, connect, and bring people together.

Surrounded by history and crumbling ruins, bathing in the sounds of nature, we allow the steady pulse of the drum to ground us in the present moment. The rhythm can help deepen our connection to ourselves, each other, and the living world around us.

No musical ability or previous experience is needed. The invitation is simply to play, listen, move, and enjoy the experience.

Bring a drum if you have one, or any musical instrument that calls to you.

Held in Nature

Nature itself is an integral part of this experience.

The changing seasons remind us that life moves in cycles, that growth and rest both have their place, and that we, too, belong to these natural rhythms. Practising outdoors allows us to reconnect with the earth beneath our feet, the air in our lungs, and the simple medicine of being present in the natural world.

Throughout the session, there will be opportunities for quiet reflection, grounding, and moments of stillness, alongside movement, expression, and shared community.
